COVENTRY City Ladies currently on a five match unbeaten run following their goalless draw at home to Cardiff City.

COVENTRY City Ladies are currently on a five match unbeaten run in the Women's Premier League following their goalless draw at home to Cardiff City on Sunday.

But much of their success so far this season has been down to summer signing Maz Gauntlett.

The likeable striker has made an immediate impact since signing from M69 rivals Leicester City, scoring four goals in six matches, including two wonder strikes against defending league champions Sunderland.

And the 24-year-old is certain she made the right choice in stepping up to the top flight of women's football and joining the Sky Blues.

"Signing for Coventry has been a great move for me because I feel I'm already developing as a player," said Gauntlett.

"I've got a manager, players and staff around me that have confidence in me which is already proving great so far.

"I'm so grateful Coventry has given me this opportunity. I've settled in really well here, the girl players and staff have made me feel welcome."

Gauntlett, who was also on the books for Midlands rivals Birmingham City, believes team work and a positive attitude are the key ingredients to keeping the club towards the top end of the table.

"I'm always buzzing for training and games which just proves there is a positive atmosphere in around the club.

Gaunlett added: "We're sitting top of the league with a lot of hard work still to be done to maintain, as were going to be the team that most teams want to beat."
