Solihull Borough 8 - 0 Coventry City Ladies
Shield 15/10/05

Coventry were in trouble from he kick-off, with only ten players, due to illness and holidays. It didn't help when Natalie had to come off injured in the 21st minute. She came back on at the start of the second half, but couldn't stop the slide. it was mainly one-way traffic throughout, although City did pressurise Solihull for the first ten minutes of the second half. Full credit to all of the girls for not giving up, and running their socks off. Solihull goals were scored in the 7, 9, 18, 34, 45, 46, and 67 minutes. player of the match was Sarah, in goal. But for her excellent saves, they would have scored a lot more goals.

Coventry City Ladies 1 - 2 Perry Woods
League 1/10/05

Both sides were near to the bottom of the league, not having won a point, so something had to give today. The match began with City playing against a strong wind. Chances were made at both ends, but not one shot on target until the fifteenth minute, when Jess picked up a lovely through ball from Toni, only to shoot over the bar. Jess had three more shots, but all just wide of the upright.

In the 24th minute Perry Woods went into the lead. City's defence were caught napping, leaving Sarah, in goal, no chance. Still city pushed forward, with Kayleigh and Lauren just failing to hit the target.

Half-time Coventry City Ladies 0 - 1 Perry Woods The second half was as exciting a match you'll ever see. On 40 minutes their goal-keeper made a tremendous save from Jess. Coventry's defence seemed to cope better in the second half (as usual). Two minutes later City got the goal they deserved, Natalie's pass reaching Jess, who shrugged off two players and scored a great goal. Before City had time to compose themselves, Perry Woods scored a second, after the defence failed to clear a corner, and with Sarah flat on the ground, a simple tap-in was all it took (albeit off the post). The last ten minutes was all Coventry. No less than eight shots on target, but all saved by an in-form goalkeeper.

If Coventry keep playing like this, the points will come!

Player of the match: Natalie Kimberlin

Bournville Warriors 3 - 1 Coventry City Ladies B
League 17/9/05

On a sunny morning in Birmingham, both teams came out looking for a first win. End to end stuff for most of the game. On 5 minutes Sarah had to save from the feet of their striker. After some Bournville pressure, city conceded a goal from a corner. This seemed to awaken city, who themselves came close to scoring on 5 occasions, 3 from Kayleigh and 1 each from jess and Natalie. On 20 minutes, sarah had to tip a shot over the bar. From the corner, Taz hammered the ball forward, Kayleigh picked it up, but was forced wide, and her shot hit the side netting. From the resulting goal kick, Bournville beat the the off-side trap, and produced a fine save from Sarah, but she couldn't hold it, and it fell to the oppositions feet, for an easy tap-in goal. 0-2. Two minutes later, after good work from Toni and Loz, Kayleigh hammered in a right foot shot, to give city hope of getting back into the game. The feeling was short-lived, however as city conceded a 3rd goal 2 minutes later.

HALF TIME : Bournville Warriors 3 - 1 Coventry City Ladies B

After a stern half time talk from manager Alan, Coventry looked more like themselves, and worked extremely hard to try and get something from the game. Jess and Kayleigh both having shots saved. City scored on 40 minutes, but it was ruled off-side. City had 3 calls for handball in the penalty area turned down, much to the dismay of the girls, management team, and supporters. This just wasn't to be City's day!
