Assistant Coach Leaving

Coventry City Ladies announced today that Assistant Coach Matt Whitehouse had stepped down due to other commitments. Whitehouse had previously worked in Phoenix, Arizona for Major League Soccer before returning home and taking up the post as Manager Paul Cudby’s assistant. The duo had a great first season together narrowly missing out on promotion from the Midland Women’s Combination League.

"Matt's come to the decision to step down for the coming season as he didn't feel he'd be able to commit the time he'd like to the role for the full season” explained Cudby. “As is typical of Matt's character he's put the club and the player’s best interests at heart and stepped down now, allowing his replacement the full pre-season to get used to their role. I'd personally like to place on record my sincere thanks for Matt's time and efforts, if he shows the character he's shown here then I've no doubt he'll be a success in whatever he does".

A native of Acocks Green, Whitehouse is studying for a Masters Degree in Sports Coaching. After a semi-pro playing career including a spell with Newcastle Town , Whitehouse got his first taste of coaching at Keele University where he learnt under the tutelage of former Manchester United Coach Keith Harrison. The Sky Blues will now begin the search for his replacement as they build towards their pre-season and mount another campaign for promotion to the Premier League.
