Awards Night PreviewCoventry City Ladies hold their annual awards evening on Friday the 1st of May at the Jaguar Sports and Social Club just days ahead of their final league match at home to Loughborough. Manager Paul Cudby sees the evening as a chance to thank the clubs players and coaches for a good first season at the helm "I'm incredibly proud of what's been achieved this season all things considered. We lost a number of players from the previous year & we've had a real rash of serious injuries. When you add to that the four coaches working together for the first time with these players too, there have been a massive number of positives”. “It's disappointing to finish the season (barring a minor miracle collapse from Derby) without winning the league or a trophy, but we know exactly where we need as a team to improve next year and everyone will be pushed even harder to achieve what we all collectively want". There are 3 awards up for grabs on the evening; Most Improved Player, Player’s Player and Manager’s Player. Cudby narrowed down his choice to Jade Formaston, Danni Saulter and Captain Natasha Lynch. "They’ve been three of the first five or six names on the team sheet week in week, set incredibly high standards for themselves and have been at the heart of everything good we've done this year. If I was able to give the award to them all I would, and probably add one or two more to that shortlist as well, they've all contributed massively to Coventry City Ladies FC and deserve the accolades and plaudits they get". Top goalscorer Helen Dermody heads the list of nominees for Player’s Player but will have to stave off bids from full back Jenni Lowe and midfield linchpin Kelly Henson. The almost ever present defensive midfielder Henson is also up for the Most Improved Player Award along with Abi Cockayne and young goalie Adele Rogers. |
