Leicester City Women 1 -2 Coventry City Ladies
League 27/4/08
by Adam Etheridge
Unlucky Thirteen For City Ladies
Coventry City Ladies fell at the final hurdle on Sunday afternoon when they were pipped to the title by the Leicester City Women. The 1-0 defeat brought the Sky Blues league win streak to halt at 13 and means the Foxes take the lone promotion place. Courtney Sweetman-Kirk’s winning goal in the final minute of stoppage time condemns Coventry to their second successive runners up spot.
With a place in the FA Northern Premier Division up for grabs, it was no surprise that the game began very cagily. Coventry struggled to put their passes together as they attempted to adapt to a hard uneven surface. Neither keeper was called into action for the duration of a first half devoid of any clear cut chances. From the re-start City began to take a foot hold in the game.
Danni Saulter latched onto a Katy Moran’s knock down to carve out City’s first chance, A low drive across the face of goal was just out of reach of both Carly Davis & Nat Brace. Jade Formaston’s cross just a few moments later provided Coventry the break they needed. The England starlets cross was adjudged to have hit a hand & the referee showed no hesitation in pointing to the spot. Saulter was called to take the spot kick with the usual penalty taker Kelly-Ann Willis on the bench. Leicester ‘keeper Laura Niblett, whose mistake at West Brom last week had left the door open for Coventry, guessed the right way & denied not only Saulter’s penalty but also smothered the ball to snuff out any chance of a rebound.
Leicester were not getting much help from the ref in front of a decent sized crowd as a Rachel Williams’ corner was glanced in only to be ruled out for a push on Kerry Williamson in the Coventry goal. The Sky Blues should’ve taken the lead midway through the second half but were denied by the pitch of all things. Katy Moran deftly side-stepped the on rushing Niblett and stroked the ball towards the empty net before a bobble pushed her shot wide of the left upright.
Coventry continued to plug away but to no avail. Leicester took advantage of the Sky Blues pursuit of a winner to find one themselves, Sweetman-Kirk rose unchallenged to bury a header from 6 yards out & stamp out City’s promotion ambitions. Chairman David Singleton reflected the optimism in the camp & was gracious in defeat “We wish Leicester well on their promotion & we’ll continue our quest to join them. 2 seasons ago we launched our 3 year ‘Think Premiership’ campaign and I believe we’re ready for next season’s title push to achieve that aim”.
Team: - Williamson, Pinner, Lowe J (Willis 78), O’Sullivan, Lynch, Sharred, Formaston (Lowe K 74), Moran, Davis, Saulter, Brace (Dermody 63).
Wolves 1 -2 Coventry City Ladies
League 17/4/08
by Adam Etheridge
Danni Saulter celebrated her first start in a month with a late double against Wolves securing a
2-1 win that sees the Sky Blues regain top spot from the Leicester City Women. Whilst Coventry still
don’t control their own destiny a draw this evening would’ve almost certainly handed the Foxes
the title.
In a game that had looked destined to finish in a 0-0 draw Saulter appeared to have done enough to
hand City all three points when in the 85th minute she latched onto substitute Kirsty O’Sullivan’s
long through ball and ran on to fire home. Becky Thomas got a hand to the shot but it wasn’t enough
to stop the ball rolling into the bottom right hand corner and the Sky Blues erupting into jubilant
celebrations.
Wolves were not content to roll over and went in search of an equaliser. They wouldn’t have to
wait long as after 2 minutes of sustained pressure a loose ball from a weak clearance feel to the
feet of Sarah Lambeth. The midfielder’s shot from almost 25 yards curved low inside the right post
through a crowd of players that left City ‘keeper Kerry Williamson unsighted.
The Sky Blues had to pick themselves up and go after the win once more. With just 2 minutes
remaining Lisa Sharrad charged forward from inside her own half and played an incisive ball through
to Saulter who still had plenty to do. The midfielder turned striker side stepped to her right; took
a few touches as she travelled to the edge of the box before unleashing a right foot blast that
nestled nicely in the bottom left corner this time.
Again Wolves piled on the pressure as they looked for another equaliser but this time City’s
back line would not be breeched. Wolves’ lone striker Anne Johnson had little joy all evening as
she was constantly denied by a Sky Blues defence consisting of Captain Natasha Lynch, Kelly Pinner,
Jenni Lowe and Lisa Sharred.
Coventry’s Midland Women’s Combination League winning streak now stands at 13. The last time
the Sky Blues dropped points was away at WBA which is where Leicester City Women must go on Sunday as
they bid to regain the top spot. Coventry’s vastly superior goal difference means that anything
less than a victory for the Foxes will hand Coventry control of their own destiny as the countdown to
the final game of the season begins.
Team: - Williamson, Pinner, Lowe. J, Moran, Lynch, Sharrad, Formaston (O’Sullivan 82), Saulter,
Davies, Lowe. K (Dermody), Brace.
Coventry City Ladies 2 - 1 TNS
League 13/4/08
by Adam Etheridge
After last weekends disappointing League Cup exit at the hands of the Leicester City Women the
Coventry City Ladies got back to the more pressing concerns of a promotion chase. TNS were the
visitors to the Coventry University Sports Ground on a stormy Sunday afternoon and put up a brave
fight before succumbing to the Sky Blues. Jade Formaston’s double early in the second half proved
too much for the Welsh outfit as Coventry triumphed 2-1 for their twelfth straight League win.
The game began in a midfield stalemate as the teams felt each other out. TNS’ lone striker Kim
Bebbington had the first chance 12 minutes in but could only direct her header into the midriff of
City ‘keeper Nina Robery. The Sky Blues began to dominate possession and carved out enough openings
to be comfortably in control of proceedings. Forwards Keeley Lowe and Kelly-Ann Willis linked up well
and both had efforts that sailed high and wide after good build up play.
At the other end Bebbington was again causing problems with her strong running, City Captain
Natasha Lynch stood up well to twice block shots before Bebbington fired a third effort high and
wide. Both Lowe’s, striker Keeley and left back Jenni, were involved shortly afterwards. Jenni Lowe’s
marauding attacks along the left flank created havoc for the TNS back line all day and never more so
than in the 23rd minute. Lowe’s curling cross came back off the crossbar with TNS ‘keeper Sarah
Martin well beaten. Natalie Brace threw herself at the loose ball and her volley fell to Keeley Lowe
whose header found only the waiting arms of Martin to relieve the pressure.
Coventry kept the pressure on as chances fell to Kelly Henson, Helen Dermody and Natasha Lynch but
with Martin constantly frustrating the Sky Blues and keeping the scores level at the half time it was
beginning to look like it might not be City’s day. Manager Stuart Wilson introduced Jade Formaston
for the re-start as Dermody picked up a knock late in the first half.
Just 3 minutes into the second half right back Fin Corley found herself one on one with Robery and
her shot from the right edge of the area left the ‘keeper no chance as 9th place TNS grabbed a
shock lead. Coventry’s reply was instant, flooding the box Brace climbed highest to win a contested
header. The ball dropped to Formaston who was forced wide but her perfectly placed lob drew the sides
level.
Formaston’s 52nd minute winner came as a result of Brace’s determination and tenacity wide on
the left, her persistence helped her win the ball off Corley as she dallied in possession. From a
deep position Brace pulled the ball to the edge of the area were Keeley Lowe was waiting to in turn
spread the ball to Formaston who fired low to Martin’s right and in off the far post.
A double substitution compounded Coventry’s dominance as the fresh legs of Danni Saulter and
Katie Moran bossed midfield for the remainder of the match. The Sky Blues couldn’t convert
dominance into goals though and were constantly frustrated by the inspired Martin. Keeley Lowe,
Moran, Saulter and Brace all had good efforts but the third would not come.
Coventry survived a late goalmouth scramble to deny TNS a point and keep the pressure on League
leaders Leicester City Women who won 2-0 at Derby County. Up next for the Sky Blues is a re-scheduled
tie away to Wolverhampton on Thursday evening. Wolves currently sit fourth but are out of title
contention, Coventry remain 2 points behind the Foxes.

Leicester City Women 2 - 1 Coventry City Ladies
League Cup 6/4/08
by Adam Etheridge
Coventry City Ladies returned to action today as they were eliminated from the League Cup by
promotion rivals the Leicester City Women. The two sides played out an uneventful Semi-Final tie amid
occasional snow flurries with the Foxes emerging 2-1 winners.
After a two week lay-off the Sky Blues emerged slightly the brighter, however, neither team
managed to grab a firm hold of the match and the game was 10 minutes old before either side had a
meaningful effort on goal. Lisa Sharrad’s skewed clear fell kindly to Courtney Sweetman-Kirk who
blazed the ball high over Kerry Williamson’s goal.
It was defensive indecisiveness that let Leicester in again as Captain Natasha Lynch allowed a
loose ball to run across the edge of the area where England Under 19 International Remi Allen was
lurking to collect it but fortunately shot wide of the mark. Poor marking would also lead to chances
for both Sweetman-Kirk and Rachel Williams as Coventry continued to live dangerously at the back.
The Sky Blues had to wait until the 26th minute before carving out their first opportunity. Keeley
Lowe latched onto Natalie Brace’s knock on but the speedy Lauren Impey chased well to clear.
Kelly-Ann Willis collected the ball inside the area from the resulting corner before being scythed
down for a penalty. Willis dusted herself off to coolly despatch the spot-kick to Laura Niblett’s
right.
Natasha Meade ensured the lead was short-lived, her speculative effort took a deceptive bounce in
front of Williamson to leave the City keeper grasping at thin air and the sides tied with half an
hour on the clock. Katie Moran had Coventry’s best effort in what remained of a first half that was
largely bereft of any attacking creativity, her long range free kick sailing narrowly over after
Brace had been hacked down.
The second period took even longer to spring into life than the first. Lisa Sharrad, who’d moved
into midfield replacing the injured Moran, sent Lowe through but the lone striker’s first touch
took the ball too close to Niblett who was able to smoother and snuff out the move. Leicester’s
powerful midfield began to dominate the game and only a saving tackle from Kelly Pinner stopped Remi
Allen from firing them into the lead.
Sensing victory Foxes Manager Rehanne Skinner threw on Nat Reay. The winger’s impact was
immediate, with 15 minutes remaining Reay wriggled free on the edge of Coventry’s box and charged
one on one with Williamson. The Keeper spread herself well doing just enough as Reay’s thunderous
effort struck the right post and cannoned back out to safety.
Leicester continued to push forward and got their just reward in the 79th minute when the lively
Sweetman-Kirk challenged Williamson for Reay’s deep cross and managed to force the ball over the
line. The game looked to be all over when Williamson spilled a routine corner, Impey picked up the
loose ball and was quickly dragged down by the City keeper. Williamson redeemed herself with a
stunning save from the resulting spot kick, diving full stretch to her right to deny Allen’s well
struck penalty.
Whilst Coventry tried in vain to respond, Leicester’s solid back line didn’t give an inch and
carried them through to Mays Final where they will meet East Midlands rivals Derby County. Meanwhile,
Coventry switch their focus back to the league and next weekends visit of TNS. The match is scheduled
for a 2pm kick off at Coventry University Sports Ground on Westwood Heath Road. The Sky Blues
currently sit two points behind Leicester who visit Derby next week.
Team: - Williamson, Wilcox (Lowe J 74), Dermody, Henson, Lynch, Sharrad, Formaston, Moran (Pinner
50), Willis (Davies 71),Lowe K, Brace.
Coventry City Ladies 3 - 0 Loughborough Students
League 16/3/08
by Adam Etheridge
Coventry City Ladies put in yet another dominant display to defeat the Loughborough Students 3-0
at Westwood Heath Sports Ground. The result marks City’s 11th straight League win and 18th in their
last 21 games overall. The three goals came in 14 first half minutes and ended a one-sided match in
which L’boro never really got going.
Keeley Lowe opened the scoring in the 9th minute ramming past Francesca Colenso in the
Loughborough goal after she’d made a good save from Danni Saulter’s header. The goal was made by
Carli Davies who again looked excellent on the left side of midfield. Davies won possession near the
edge of her own box and took the ball to the edge of the opposition’s avoiding two sliding tackles
and delivering a beautiful cross for Saulter’s well headed effort.
Loughborough attempted to mount an immediate response but good defensive work from midfield duo
Kirsty O’Sullivan and Katie Moran set Davies free to drive down the left. The winger curled in a
wicked cross which would’ve been turned into her own net by Lea Cobhan but for Colenso’s save at
full stretch. The Students struggled all day to clear their own area and Davies almost punished them
when she turned and shot from the penalty spot but Colenso again foiled City.
Coventry and Lowe’s second did eventually come when, in the 22nd minute, a succession of corners
was converted with a near post header. Last weeks 5 goal star Jade Formaston drove the ball in from
the right, finding Lowe unattended at the near post. Colenso was powerless to stop the neat flicked
header and stood rooted to the spot as the ball squeezed inside the upright.
The Sky Blues’ third came just one minute later as Loughborough were again unable to get any
purchase on a clearance with the ball coming straight back at them. Saulter, who’d shaken off the
ankle knock collected at Hereford last week, picked up the ball on the edge of the area and lobbed a
stranded Colenso with a very precise finish.
A couple of accurate deep crosses from right back Natalie Wilcox laid on further chances for O’Sullivan
and Saulter with both narrowly missing the target. Lowe, who was making her first start since missing
5 games with a groin injury, had chances to score her hat-trick but was denied by more good work in
the L’boro goal by Colenso and a well timed challenge by Laura Steele.
The visitors finally began to create some chances late on and Kerry Williamson had to get down
well to save from Julie Stirrup after Nicola Tweedle’s pull back left her one-on-one with the City
keeper. Moments later Williamson was well beaten by Tweedle’s long range effort and was relived to
see the ball sail just over.
With promotion rivals Leicester City Women also winning today the pressure remains on Coventry as
they stay just one point clear having played two more games. Leicester play one of those games next
week when they make the tough trip to Wolves, Coventry have a rare weekend off and will be hoping for
a favour from their West Midlands neighbours.
Team: - Williamson, Wilcox (Dermody 63), J. Lowe, O’Sullivan (Henson 59), Lynch, Pinner,
Formaston (Willis 72), Moran, Saulter, K. Lowe, Davies.
Hereford Pegasus 0 - 10 Coventry City Ladies
League 9/3/08
by Adam Etheridge
Coventry City Ladies promotion charge continued apace with a 10-0 drubbing away to the Hereford
Pegasus Ladies. Jade Formaston delivered a virtuoso performance scoring 5 and laying on a further 2.
Carly Davies marked a memorable debut scoring twice and providing 3 assists.
Hereford found themselves under the cosh right from the off, Kelly-Ann Willis forced a good save
Heidi Venables in the first minute as she fired in a low effort from a tight angle that the
despairing keeper could only block by thrusting out her left leg. Davies, Danni Saulter and Captain
Natasha Lynch all had chances to open the scoring early on as Pegasus were forced to batten down the
hatches.
Willis appeared to give Coventry a deserved lead in the 14th minute but her strike was ruled out
when the assistant referee determined that Saulter had taken the final touch from an offside
position. City wouldn’t have to wait long for the opener as Formaston latched onto a Saulter pass
and fired home just a minute later. It was Formaston who doubled the Sky Blues’ lead when she
reacted quickest to poke home after Venables denied a well hit Willis effort.
With just 30 minutes on the clock City made it 3-0. Davies was able to escape down the left wing
and deliver a wicked curling cross that midfielder Kirsty O’Sullivan was able to volley inside the
left upright. After hitting the underside of the crossbar twice in a four minute span it was
beginning to look as though Formaston might be stuck one short of her hat-trick, that was until
Davies unlocked the Hereford defence once again sliding the ball into the Formaston’s path to fire
low to the keeper’s right.
On the stroke of half-time Willis stepped up to smash home a penalty for a 5-0 lead. The spot-kick
had been awarded after a Lynch free kick from just inside the Hereford half. Formaston, in search of
her fourth, ran onto the ball deep in the area before being brought down by the luckless Venables.
Whilst Coventry had made light work of the first half it wouldn’t be without cost as Danni Saulter
was forced off with a badly bruised ankle. Contesting a drop ball with Karen Hackley, Saulter came
off worst as the tough tackling Hereford midfielder took more than just the football.
The Second period was punctuated by lengthy injury delays as Hereford lost Keeper Venables in a
clash with Formaston that also saw the City winger notch her fourth of the game. Jenny Shail stepped
into the fray between the sticks for the beleaguered Pegasus and was soon picking the ball out her
net, although she made a good block on Formaston’s first effort, Shail was stranded for the
follow-up as Formaston retrieved the ball out wide and fired in from a tight angle.
Kerry Williamson had been reduced to a virtual spectator in the City goal before being saving well
from Simone Quinn’s well struck long range effort in the 80th minute. Keeley Lowe marked her long
awaited return to action side stepping one challenge and fighting through a second on the edge of the
Hereford box, the resulting loose ball ran onto Davies to coolly open her Coventry account.
Davies wouldn’t have to wait long for her second, a neat one-two with Formaston found her with
just the stand-in keeper to beat, Davies obliged firing into the roof of the net. In the 12th and
final minute of injury time a rare clearance from the City back line ran through to Keeley Lowe
courtesy of a neat dummy from Lisa Sharad. Shail came out well to challenge and was unlucky as her
block from Lowe’s shot rebounded back onto the striker and headed goal bound. Lowe left no doubt as
she raced in to bury the ball in the back of the net.
Next up for the Sky Blues is a home tie with the 5th placed Loughborough Students on Sunday the
16th of March. The two sides met earlier in the season with Coventry running out 5-0 winners courtesy
of goals from Willis, Lynch, Natalie Brace, Emma Lipman & Mel Byrne. The match is scheduled for a
2pm kick off at the Coventry Universtiy Sports Ground on Westwood Heath Road, entrance is free.
Team: - Williamson, Wilcox (Pinner 72), J. Lowe, O’Sullivan, Lynch [c], Sharad, Formaston, Moran
(Henson 81), Davies, Saulter (K. Lowe 46), Willis.
Coventry City Ladies 5 - 2 Alfreton Town
League 2/3/08
by Adam Etheridge
Coventry City Ladies achieved their 9th straight league win in a relatively comfortable fashion
defeating Alfreton Town 5-2. Danni Saulter scored twice for the fourth consecutive game and has 9 of
Coventry’s 21 goals over the past 5 matches. England under 17 starlet Jade Formaston marked her
return to the starting line up with a double also as Coventry scored 3 times in 5 second half minutes
to blow away their shell-shocked opponents.
On an afternoon with difficult conditions control was always likely to be an issue. A fierce cross
field wind and a solid playing surface didn’t allow the Sky Blues to settle into their attractive
brand of attacking football. It would appear, however, that no force of nature could slow the
rampaging Saulter, It was her 10th minute cross that led to Coventry’s opener. Catherine Davey
could only head the ball against her own post, Jade Formaston alerted picked up the rebound and laid
the ball back to Saulter who took one touch and then hammered a shot across goal finding the far
corner.
The two linked up again in the 21st minute as this time Saulter turned provider, picking out
Formaston in a similar position to the first goal. ‘Formo’s’ blistering effort left Rebecca
Haslam no chance in the Alfreton goal as it flew past her right hand into the back of the net. Not
content to roll over, Samantha Griffiths buoyed her team with some hard work along the right sideline
driving Alfreton forward in search of a way back into the game. Her efforts were to no avail though
as a sturdy City backline held out until halftime and a second half goal blitz killed off any
challenge.
Saulter again got the ball rolling after the re-start. Breaking free down the right in the 53rd
minute and smashing the ball into the roof of the net from what appeared to be an impossible angle.
Just 2 minutes later Kirsty O’Sullivan’s through ball allowed Formaston the time and space to
pick her spot low to the keeper’s right. City completed their glut of goals in the 57th minute when
lone striker Kelly-Ann Willis ran onto Jenni Lowe’s angled pass, advanced on goal and made no
mistake with a clinical finish into the bottom left corner from 10 yards out.
With the pressure seemingly off, Manager Stuart Wilson was able to hand a debut to 16 year old
Centre Of Excellence graduate Nicole Tinto replacing the free-scoring Saulter. As the game began to
peter out Coventry’s play became increasingly sloppy, gifting possession to Alfreton. It took 2
goals in 2 minutes to snap the Sky Blues back into life. Both goals were the result of corners;
first, substitute Louise Naylor found herself alone in the box and was able to convert a free header
from five yards out before Coventry conceded another corner almost straight from their kick off. City
failed to clear the inswinging effort and a game of pinball ensued in the area before an unfortunate
deflection off centre half Kelly Pinner ended up in the back of the net.
Coventry were maybe fortunate to survive the late rally as a third goal was ruled out for a foul
on City keeper Kerry Williamson. The Sky Blues did manage to regain their composure and finished
strongly, Willis, Formaston and Tinto all went close before the final whistle. Away wins for both the
Leicester City Women and WBA keep the pressure on the Sky Blues as they sit 1 and 3 points back
respectively. Coventry go in search of a tenth straight win next week when they visit second bottom
Hereford Pegasus.
Team: K.Williamson, K.Pinner, J.Lowe, K. O’Sullivan, N. Lynch, L. Sharad (A. Forbes 69), J.

Coventry City Ladies 4 - 3 Wolves
League 24/2/08
by Adam Etheridge
Coventry City Ladies maintained their lead at the top of the Midland Women’s Combination League
courtesy of a nervy 4-3 victory at home to promotion rivals the Wolverhampton Wanderers Women. Danni
Saulter was again at the heart of everything for Coventry, scoring twice and applying heavy pressure
to force an own goal for what turned out to be the winner.
With
the game barely a minute old Helen Dermody took a quick throw-in deep in Wolves’ territory, finding
Saulter just inside the penalty area, her hopeful lobbed cross sailed towards goal where
Wolverhampton keeper Becky Thomas fumbled the ball across the line to gift the Sky Blues an early
lead and the perfect start.
After seeing off some early pressure from a buoyant Sky Blue side Wolves finally got into the game
and settled their nerves when a punt from the halfway line was misjudged by City captain Natasha
Lynch. The usually rock solid centre half allowed the ball to bounce opening the door to stand-in
forward Anne Johnson, a left back by trade Johnson lifted a deft lob over the stranded Kerry
Williamson and into the net to pull her side level in the 11th minute.
The first half was dominated by the Sky Blues carving out several chances with Saulter denied
twice by Thomas who’d managed to put her earlier mistake behind her. Wolves did manage to create a
couple of decent changes themselves, once denied by the post and once by a tremendous one handed save
from Williamson who stood tall as Nicole Ledgister bared down and unleashed a stinging effort.
Wolves
started the second half much the brighter and were unlucky not be awarded a penalty as Natalie Wilcox
slid in and tripped Heather Clarkson just seven minutes in. with Coventry coming under increasing
pressure Manager Stuart Wilson made his first change on the hour mark, bringing on Jade Formaston for
Dermody. The change provided an instant lift as Kirsty O’Sullivan found Saulter from the halfway
line. The free scoring midfielder, deployed today just behind lone striker Kelly-Ann Willis, made a
superb run from wide left to collect the ball and run one-on-one with Thomas sliding the ball into
the net low to the keeper’s right.
Quarter of an hour later Coventry seemingly put the game out of reach. Formaston swung in a wicked
corner picking out Lynch in the centre of the box, her effort was deflected before dropping back to
her off of the referee. The fleet footed centre half danced around two challenges before picking out
the bottom left corner. With just over 10 minutes to play Coventry added a 4th. Another Formaston
corner was the catalyst as Wolves failed to clear and a goalmouth melee saw Saulter’s close range
effort take a wicked deflection before nestling in the bottom left corner again.
Refusing to lie down and roll over Wolves mounted a siege on the City goal for the final 10
minutes. Williamson was caught out playing for time as the terrier-like Ledgister was rewarded for
her days endeavour, snatching the ball off the toes of the City keeper and tucking it into the empty
net to give Wolverhampton hope of a stunning comeback.
Coventry feverishly defended their goal until deep into injury time and were perhaps unlucky to
concede a penalty when left back Jenni Lowe slid in appearing to win the ball. The assistant,
however, raised his flag across his chest and Clarkson blasted home the spot kick making for a
frantic final 5 minutes of stoppage time.
The Sky Blues clung on and stay top of the pile. Leicester City Women and WBA also won to keep the
pressure on. Coventry’s next opponents are Alfreton Town whom they beat 6-0 in the away fixture
back in November. The match is again scheduled for a 2pm kick off at Coventry Universtiy Sports
Ground on Westwood Heath Road, entrance is free.
Team: - Williamson, Wilcox, Lowe, O’Sullivan, Lynch, Pinner, Dermody (Formaston 60), Sharad
(Forbes 90), Willis (Packer 79), Saulter, Brace.
Sheffied United 1 - 7 Coventry City Ladies
League 17/2/08
by Adam Etheridge
Sky Blue Ladies go Sky High
The Coventry City Ladies cruised to their 7th straight league win away to lowly Sheffield United.
The 7-1 canter lifted the Sky Blues to the heady heights of the top of the Midland Women’s
Combination League and lifted the gloom a day after their male counterparts suffered a crushing 5-0
F.A. Cup defeat.
Midfield maestro Danni Saulter was again instrumental for the Sky Blues. As well as 2 assists, her
2 goals give her a total of 5 in the last three matches. It was Saulter’s midfield partner Kelly
Henson who got the ball rolling though with a fine run and left foot shot low into the bottom corner
on 18 minutes.
The Blades weren’t about to roll over though and responded well. Having only managed 5 goals in
their 14 league matches to date the Sky Blues were shocked to concede an equaliser as Zoe Beresford
was able to outpace Ali Forbes and stride from the halfway line to coolly slot the ball past the
onrushing Williamson.
Henson restored Coventry’s lead with a well struck free-kick from a central position 22 yards
from goal, with the keeper stranded Henson’s lobbed effort went in off the underside of the
crossbar ensuring that City went in with a half time lead.
A more assured looking Coventry dominated the second half attacking in waves and overwhelming
Sheffield. The versatile Kerry Packer split the Blades back line with a through ball to Saulter who
calmly slid past the keeper for her first of the day. 13 minutes later and it was the turn of Katie
Moran, the right sided midfielder drifted into the box and was picked out by Pinner. Moran had time
to control, turn and unleash an unstoppable effort into the bottom left corner from close range.
The final quarter of an hour saw the Sky Blues convert their dominance into 3 more goals. First
the red hot Saulter fired in her second after good work by Willis and neat step over from Dermody.
Sharad then opened her account for the season displaying great close control to bing down Henson’s
cross with her right foot and dispatch a floated effort with her left.
Kelly-Ann Willis’ hard work was rewarded 5 minutes from time when Saulter played a well weighted
ball in from the left allowing the forward to rifle in a powerful strike for City’s seventh.
Next week should see a far sterner test for the Sky Blues as they host a stingy Wolves side that
boasts the divisions second best defensive record, allowing just 11 goals. Leicester Women will
expect to keep the pressure on as they host Sheffield United.
Team: Wiliamson, Pinner (O’Sullivan), Lowe, Packer, Sharad, Forbes (Lynch 28), Wilcox (Dermody
64), Moran, Willis, Saulter, Henson.
Coventry City Ladies 5 - 0 Leicester City Ladies
League 10/2/08
by Adam Etheridge
Coventry City Ladies put in a dominating display this afternoon and ran out comfortable 5-0
victors at home to local rivals Leicester City Ladies. Kirsty O’Sullivan opened the scoring before
Jade Formaston and last weeks injury time hero Danni Saulter bagged two goals apiece. The win marks
the Sky Blues’ 6th in a row, netting 37 times in the process whilst conceding only twice.
With the sun shining brightly on a good looking pitch, the day looked more early spring than
February; and the Sky Blue Ladies responded with a bright display to match the occasion.
Stuart Wilson was forced to shuffle his pack following injuries to strikers Keeley Lowe and Sinead
Wade, so right back Helen Dermody returned from England Colleges to play up front alongside Kelly-Ann
Willis. Both had numerous opportunities to score in a first half dominated by the home side, but
Leicester’s Chloe Fensome was in typically fine form, producing a number of fine saves from Dermody
and a stinging long range effort from O’Sullivan.
On 38 minutes though, O’Sullivan side footed in from much shorter range when she met Dermody’s
measured ball along the 6 yard line. If the first goal was a long time coming, the second followed
much quicker when Formaston burst into the box just one minute later to finish with a low drive into
the bottom left.
The 2nd half was more even with Leicester showing more intent but producing little in the final
third. With City coasting though, the game was in danger of losing momentum. Wilson brought on
Packer, Saulter and Wilcox and almost immediately the Sky Blue Ladies went three up, Willis feeding
Saulter, who finished with a rising right foot shot into the far corner from 15 yards. The final 15
minutes was all one way traffic, with Nat Brace and Formaston raiding down the flanks and Leicester
struggling to clear their lines.
On 88 minutes, ‘Formo’ jinked into the right hand edge of the box, turned inside and slid the
ball low past Fensome into the net. Seconds after the restart City made it five when Kelly-Ann Willis
won possession and went on a mazy run through four half-hearted tackles before threading through to
Danni Saulter who rolled the ball past the onrushing Fensome into the empty net to bag her second and
put the game to bed.
The three points see the Cassidy Sky Blues move into 2nd place in the Midland Combination League
leapfrogging WBA and keeping the pressure on league leaders Leicester City Women. Up next is a trip
to face Sheffield United. City’s current hot streak began with a 14-0 demolition at home to the
leagues bottom club, The Blades are yet to pick up a point this season.
Team: Williamson, Pinner, J. Lowe, O’Sullivan (Packer 65), Lynch, Forbes (Wilcox 76), Formaston,

Coventry City Ladies booked their place in the League Cup semi-finals thanks to a memorable fight
back against fellow Midlands Combination League promotion hopefuls West Bromwich Albion. Danni
Saulter’s strike in extra time completed the stunning turn around as the Sky Blues ran out 3-2
victors after trailing 2-0 at the half.
West Brom took a 14th minute lead through Abbie Hinton’s disputed close range effort. The 19
year old striker escaped the attention of the Sky Blues back line and was left alone in the centre of
the box but looked suspiciously offside. Hinton kept her poise and was able to place the ball passed
the despairing dive of City keeper Kerry Williamson.
The Sky Blues shrugged off the disappointment of falling behind to battle back into what was
becoming a fascinating and hard fought contest. Baggies winger Chanelle Hooper rocked them again
though with a clinical strike from the edge of City’s penalty area to give her side a 2-0 advantage
heading into the break.
Manager Stuart Wilson’s double substitution in the 56th minute shook some life back into the Sky
Blues and paid almost immediate dividends. Danni Saulter’s left wing cross found the red hot Keeley
Lowe who was able to head the Sky Blues back into contention.
Jade Formaston pulled the sides level just seven minutes after entering the fray. Kelly-Ann Willis
played a cross field pass from the left finding Formo in space and allowing her to cut inside the box
rocketing the ball into the roof of the net. The two sides traded blows as the game swung from end to
end with both teams searching in vein for a winner in regulation.
The decisive strike came early in the second period of extra-time, a neat passing move on the left
saw Nat Brace play a one-two with Willis before picking out former Arsenal midfielder Saulter on the
penalty spot. West Brom’s tired defenders failed to shut Saulter down affording her enough time to
open her body and smash the ball home and Coventry into the next round.
Although WBA still hold a narrow lead in the league, the result provides a small measure of
revenge as Coventry had failed to beat the Baggies in their two prior meetings this season. It’s
back to League action next week for the Coventry City Ladies as they meet their counterparts from
local rivals Leicester City. The two sides have played twice already this season with the Sky Blues
winning both.
Line Up:- Kerry Williamson, Natalie Wilcox, Jenni Lowe, Kirsty O’Sullivan, Natasha Lynch, Kelly
Pinner, Hayley Packer (Jade Formaston 56), Danni Saulter, Sinead Wade (Kelly-Ann Willis 24), Keeley
Lowe, Kelly Henson (Nat Brace 56).
Derby County 1 - 2 Coventry City Ladies
League 27/1/08
by Adam Etheridge
Coventry City Ladies bounced back from their midweek County Cup exit at the hands of Birmingham
City to claim victory from a goal down in a tense affair against a battling Derby County side. The
win came courtesy of two goals from winger Nat Brace and keeps the Sky Blues’ promotion push on
track.
The Rams took an early lead when Lorna Abbey’s cross from wide on the right sailed past everyone
in the box, catching keeper Williamson by surprise. The misguided centre dropped under the crossbar
and rocked Coventry back on their on heels.
A heavy underdog, Derby seemed satisfied to defend deep and try to frustrate the Sky Blues whilst
protecting their lead. The negative strategy was paying off, as Coventry were creating a glut of
chances but were unable to convert any into an equaliser.
Half time came and went and as Derby began to look like they might be home Coventry’s
persistence finally paid off, breeching Derby’s stubborn defence in the 76th minute. Captain
Natasha Lynch surged forward into opposition territory finding Brace who had cut inside from her wide
position. The pacey winger confidently stroked the ball home finding the bottom corner with a well
placed right foot effort from just inside the penalty area.
Brace’s equaliser keeps alive a streak that has now seen her score in 4 consecutive league
outings. Her second just went to prove that when you’re playing well things seem to happen for you.
Coventry had been throwing everything forward looking for a winner but to no avail, when deep into
injury time the tenacious Brace swung in a hopeful cross that evaded both her team mates and a
despairing goalie finding the net and deservedly securing all three points.
The Sky Blues Ladies take a break from league action this weekend when they travel to Bromsgrove
for a local clash with West Brom in the second round of the League Cup. Coventry received a first
round bye and now face a team that they’ve failed to beat in their two prior meetings this season,
drawing 3-3 at home and falling 2-1 on the road.
Coventry City Ladies 0 - 2 Birmingham City
County Cup 22/1/08
by Adam Etheridge
Coventry City Ladies crashed out of the County Cup 2-0 last night at the hands of local rivals
Birmingham City. The Premier League outfit have owned their neighbours in recent times as the result
marks the fourth straight year that they’ve knocked the Sky Blues out of the competition.
Whilst Coventry were missing full-back Jenni Lowe, Birmingham had the luxury of being able to send
out an experienced line up littered with England internationals. Former Sky Blues midfielder Laura
Bassett led out a Birmingham team in a rich vein of form having won 6 straight games in a run dating
back to early October. In a game played at a frantic pace from the opening kick-off Birmingham had
the best of the early exchanges. With 11 minutes on the clock a busy Williamson got down well to make
an excellent save from the lively Becky Hall. The compact left winger gave Helen Dermody a torrid
time and it was her ballooned clearance that opened the door for Hall’s effort.
Coventry received a let-off in the 29th minute as forward Amy McCann had the goal at her mercy but
only managed to kick the cold evening air allowing the Sky Blues to clear their lines. Blues keeper
Sue Wood had been a virtual spectator the entire first half but reacted well to foil Keeley Lowe as
she latched onto Jade Formaston’s cross. Lowe’s close range effort looked to be creeping inside
the right post when Wood instinctively threw out a strong hand to push the ball wide.
Birmingham continued to force a high tempo in the second half and eventually cracked the Sky Blues
resistance on the hour mark. Danni Bird’s searching free kick found Kerys Harrop at the back post
and her header down fell to an on-rushing Sally Lacey to smash home. Becky Hall’s impressive
display was rewarded with Birmingham’s second goal. Stemming from another set-piece Hall reacted
quickest to Bassett’s knock down, slotting the ball home in the 75th minute to end the contest and
Coventry’s County Cup ambitions for another season.
The Sky Blues Ladies return to league action this weekend as they continue their push for
promotion with a trip to Derby County. When the two met back in October Coventry won 4-1 by virtue of
a brace from Formaston plus one each for Saulter and Dermody.
Team: - Williamson, Dermody (Henson 62), Wilcox (Whitehouse 71), O'Sullivan, Lynch, Forbes,
Formaston, Saulter, Willis, Lowe (Wade 67), Brace.
T.N.S. 1 - 4 Coventry City Ladies
League 20/1/08
by Adam Etheridge
Coventry City Ladies continued their fine run of form this weekend with a 4-1 win away at The New
Saints. The Sky Blues have amassed a staggering 29 goals in an impressive run which has seen them
convincingly win 4 straight league games.
Last weeks hat-trick hero, Keeley Lowe, continued her hot streak with the opening goal shortly
before the half hour mark. As usual Jade Formaston caused problems for the opposition and it was her
driven cross that Lowe flicked into the roof of the home side’s net.
In a game that was dominated by the visitors, TNS managed to frustrate the Sky Blues and didn’t
allow them to add to their lead until a frantic final 15 minutes. Kelly-Ann Willis found herself with
the ball and her back to goal just outside the area, with no one coming to close her down Willis was
able to turn and shoot, her well placed 78th minute effort doubled City’s advantage.
Almost straight from the re-start a reeling TNS gave the ball back to a suddenly rampant Sky
Blues. Willis turned provider, cutting in along the bye-line and squaring for Nat Brace to stab home
from close range effectively putting an end to the contest.
Worse was to come for the home side. On 81 minutes, Helen Dermody picked the ball up and was able
run unchallenged before unleashing what is fast becoming a trademark drive from outside the box.
Reminiscent of David Thompson’s finest efforts, Dermody’s screeching shot made it 4-0. TNS took
solace from an injury time consolation as a long range effort breached the stingy Sky Blues defence
in the 92nd minute.
The victory keeps Coventry in the chase at the top as 4 midland rivals battle it out for the lone
promotion place. The Sky Blues hold a slender lead over Wolves and are hot on the heels of leaders
the Leicester City Women and West Bromwich Albion who occupy the top two spots.
Team: Sarah Morgan, Helen Dermody, Jenni Lowe, Kirsty O’Sullivan (Kelly Henson 70), Natasha

Coventry City Ladies 5 - 0 Leafield Athletic
League 13/1/08
by Adam Etheridge
Coventry City Ladies made a triumphant return to League action against Leafield Athletic on
Sunday. The Sky Blues ran out comfortable 5-0 victors in a game that was played in difficult
conditions.
Keeley Lowe gave Coventry the ideal start when, in the second minute, she side-footed the ball
home from namesake Jenni’s centre. As the gusting wind began to pick up so did Coventry’s play.
Formaston’s pace caused problems for opposing left back Ashington all afternoon and in the 22nd
minute the speedy winger burst free to provide Lowe with a pinpoint cross to head in for her second
goal and a 2-0 lead.
Ten minutes later Formaston found herself out on the left as Leafield’s defence failed to clear
it’s lines from a corner, Saulter collected the loose ball and rolled it to ‘Formo’ who had
time to pick out the top right hand corner from outside the area for Coventry’s third.
The second half followed much the same pattern as the first, Leafield were unable to carve out any
clear cut chances whilst Coventry twice rattled the crossbar. Shortly after the hour mark the Sky
Blues mounting pressure eventually led to a deserved fourth.
A clearing ball from Captain Lynch found Formaston who was able to run infield before supplying
Lowe who’d drifted wide right. Lowe’s ball into the area was touched on by Wade to the hard
working winger Natalie Brace who’d covered a lot of ground to arrive at the far post for a tap in.
With the game in hand Coventry turned to their bench, Manager Stuart Wilson was also able to hand
a debut to goalie Adele Rodgers. The 16 year old shot blocker had been with the club since playing
for the Under 9’s and would soon be involved in the thick of the action.
Leafield searched in vain for a late consolation, however, Rodgers got down well to make a strong
stop from a thunderous Montgomery free kick. Finally, Lowe rounded off her hat-trick when she reacted
quickest after Leafield keeper Stephanie Draper made a good save from a Brace effort.
Line-ups: -

Alfreton Town 0 - 6 Coventry City Ladies
League 25/11/07
by Tim Kalns
Coventry City Ladies turned on the heat on a cold grey day in the Derbyshire hills on Sunday as
they warmed up for their FA Cup encounter with Northern Premiership contenders Lincoln City with a
controlled display of attacking football to entertain a good sized crowd who braved the weather at
Alfreton Town.
The Impact Arena has hardly been a happy hunting ground for the Sky Blues over the last few
seasons with Alfreton always proving to be a well organised and difficult side to beat.
This season Town have struggled with injuries, but were boosted on Sunday by the arrival of four
new signings in Becky Haslam, Jodie Ward, Danielle Laughton and ex Forest and England U15 midfielder
Robyn Henton.
The opening exchanges saw the home side going long with both Henton and Laughton showing good pace
in pursuit, but with the Sky Blues first meaningful attack the visitors should have gone ahead when
Formaston whipped the ball in low from the bye line and Helen Dermody crashed the ball against the
Lonergan’s legs from 2 yards with the keeper not knowing much about it.
A succession of corners kept the pressure on the home goal, but on 11 minutes there seemed little
danger when Kelly-Ann Willis was forced out to collect the ball 22 yards out with her back to goal.
But Willis stunned the home crowd with a swivel and exquisite left foot lob into top far corner of
the net to give City the lead.
On 24 minutes Kirsty O’Sullivan was upended some 35 yardsfrom goal and this time Natasha Lynch
surprised the home defence by sending a thunderous dipping free kick gainst the underside of the
crossbar which Danni Saulter rammed in from close range to make it 2-0.
Keeley Lowe went close with a strong header from Formaston’s cross that had Lonergan leaping
high to her left to claw the ball out from the top corner, but there was nothing the home keeper
could do to stop Willis making it 3-0 with a scorching right foot shot from the corner of the box to
cap a fine sweeping move that had started in Coventry’s own half.
City skipper Lynch thought she had made it four with a diving header after Lonergan blocked her
first effort from a corner, but referee Haw had spotted an infringement. The Sky Blues were hoping he’d
spotted another one just minutes before the break when Formaston burst into the box and had her legs
taken away from behind as she pulled the trigger from 6 yards, but with the defender failing to get
anything on the ball, he chose to award a goal kick.
Half Time Score: Alfreton Town 0 - 3 Coventry City Ladies
The Sky Blues started the second half brightly with O’Sullivan and Lowe shooting narrowly over,
but Alfreton weathered the storm and came back into the game, with Robyn Henton going closest when
she seized on a misplaced pass and fired narrowly wide.
Sinead Wade replaced Willis on 55 mins and within a minute the Sky Blues went four up when she
powered inside from the left and sent a pass along the 6 yard box that Keeley Lowe went full stretch
to toe in at the far post.
On the hour Stuart Wilson replaced Formaston with Natalie Brace and shuffled his pack further with
Natalie Wilcox coming on for Alison Forbes.
The final quarter was all one way traffic with Saulter and O’Sullivan dominating midfield and
driving City forward and Natalie Brace raiding down the left flank. On 82 minutes Brace played a one
two with Jenni Lowe and cut the ball back to the edge of the area where Sinead Wade took a touch
before rifling into the top corner.
Wade returned the favour two minutes later, sliding the ball inside for Brace to go one on one
with the keeper. Her right foot shot was brilliantly blocked by Lonergan but as the ball bounced up
Brace rose to nod home to make it six.
Manager Stuart Wilson was particularly pleased with the performance. “Alfreton always seem
to make it difficult for you here, it’s a great facility and they have a good crowd behind them.
But we’ve played some terrific football at times today and the finishing was excellent; six very
good goals and we could have had more. We face a sterner test next week against Lincoln in the FA
Cup; we need to keep this momentum going”
Team: Williamson, Forbes (Wilcox 68), Lynch, Cartwright, J Lowe, O’ Sullivan, Formaston (Brace

Coventry City Ladies 2 - 1 Leicester City Ladies
FAW Cup sponsored by E-on ~ 1st Round Proper 28/10/07
by Tim Kalns
The Sky Blue Ladies eased their way into the 2nd Round with a narrow win that always looked more
comfortable than the one goal margin suggests. With Formaston, Brace, Gauntlett and Jenni Lowe all
unavailable, Neil Wilson's starting line up was very different to the one that cruised to a 4-1
league win at Leicester last weekend. The scorer of the opener though was again Danni Saulter,
sliding the ball under keeper Fensome on 37 minutes after collecting Wade's inch perfect through ball
following Lipman's flick on. It was to be Lippo's last involvement as she went off feeling groggy, to
be replaced by Kirsty O"Sullivan. The Sky Blues continued to create chances, but failed to add
to their tally and at half time the score remained 1-0.
Leicester rallied a little after the break and enjoyed more possession, but rarely troubled home
keeper Robery, while at the other end Chloe Fensome made good saves from Byrne, Saulter and Wade. On
75 mins Wilson replaced Byrne and Henson with Keeley Lowe and Kelley-Ann Willis but with Leicester
looking ever more stretched still a second goal eluded the home side. With just four minutes
remaining the Sky Blues were rocked back on their heels when Nat Wilcox was adjudged to have fouled
Claire Stephens and was sent off for her second bookable offence. From the resultant free kick Fran
Gamble sent an exquisite curler into the top corner to level the scores and set up a dramatic last
few minutes; with the Sky Blues going all out to finish it to avoid going into extra time with 10
players. They almost made it when Sinead Wade's pace took her one on one with the keeper but her shot
was blocked by the keeper's feet and ricocheted back off Wade to roll agonizingly inches wide of the
post. One minute into time added on, Saulter threaded through to the feet of Keeley Lowe, who coolly
lobbed the advancing Fensome into an empty net before disappearing under a bundle of sky blue shirts
as City deservedly booked their place in the 2nd round draw.

Coventry City Ladies 4 - 1 Derby County Ladies
League 14/10/07
by Tim Kalns
The Sky Blue Ladies got their season back on track with a comfortable win over a useful looking
Derby side that included Jade Formaston’s England U17 colleague Cara Newton on the bench, in front
of a good sized turn out at Westwood Heath.
Stuart Wilson was able to pair up Emma Lipman and recent signing Danni Saulter together in
midfield for the first time. It was a combination that clicked from the start with both involved in a
build up that saw Jade Formaston finish from a tight angle to give City the lead in the opening
minutes.
Kelly-Ann Willis went close with two strikes that went narrowly over before Formaston bagged her
second with a fine individual effort, cutting into the box and skipping past three challenges before
rolling the ball in off the far post.
Half time score: Coventry City Ladies 2 - 0 Derby County Ladies
Derby brought on Cara Newton at the restart and she used her pace and strength to good effect in a
bright opening spell for the visitors as Derby forced a series of corners. Stuart Wilson brought on
Sinead Wade and Maz Gauntlett for their seasonal debuts, but neither had touched the ball when
moments later the Sky Blues went further ahead when Natalie Brace's cross from the left was stabbed
home from short range by Danni Saulter. It was just reward for the tireless ex-Arsenal midfielder,
who has quickly settled into her central role with the Sky Blues and looks a fine acquisition.
Derby pulled a goal back when keeper Nina Robery could only parry a fierce free kick from just
outside the box and a County striker reacted quickest to fire into the roof of the empty net.
City restored their three-goal advantage 5 minutes from time when Lipman's through ball sliced up
off a defender and substitute Helen Dermody volleyed superbly into the far corner from the right hand
edge of the box.

Coventry City Ladies fought hard for a point against Leicester City Women.
In a game which will help to shape the top of the Midland Women's Combination table, the Sky Blues
were not allowed to played their brand of attacking football which had seen them net thirteen goals
in the last two games.
Stuart Wilson's side took the lead in the 33rd minute when a Natasha Lynch free kick was punched
down by Sophie Le Gros in the Leicester goal and the ball fell for Jade Formaston to ram into the net
from close range.
Although,Formaston who was called up for England U17 duty this week, had a superb game, she was
forced to spend much of the game tackling back rather than attacking.
Leicester dominated the second half and drew level in the 53rd minute when an Emma Lipman
clearance only reached Remi Allen who scored with a 23 yard shot.
The visitors won five corners in the second half but with Kerry Williamson performing heroics in
goal, they could not find another way through.
Her best save was a push over the bar from a 73rd minute Rachel Williams free kick, despite
suffering a couple of injuries.
Leicester pushed until the final whistle but the game finished in a draw.
Loughboro' Students 0 - 5 Coventry City Ladies
League 9/9/07
By Kev Monks
The Sky Blue Ladies maintained their flying start to the season with a comfortable win at
Loughborough University, where the Students never really recovered from going two goals down in the
first four minutes.
Kelly-Ann Willis opened the scoring with an exquisite curler beyond keeper Bruton into the top
corner from 22 yards; then two minutes later Natalie Brace raced onto Lipman’s ball behind the full
back to finish with an unstoppable half volley into the roof of the net.
The rest of the half was rather stale by comparison as the two sides largely cancelled each other
out, but the Students showed signs of attacking intent with Sarah Ronald showing good pace and
strength to get in two strikes just off target and going narrowly wide with a header from a corner.
On the stroke of half-time though, City went 3-0 up when Tash Lynch deftly cushioned Willis’s
inswinging corner into the side of the net from close range.
Half Time: Loughboro' Students 0 - 3 Coventry City Ladies
The Sky Blues continued to push forward from the re-start, but were denied by a number of quality
saves by the excellent Naomi Bruton in the Loughborough goal, but Bruton needed the woodwork to come
to the rescue when Kelly-Ann Willis crashed a shot against the underside of the bar to bounce down
onto the line, where Emma Lipman was unable to force the ball in as Coventry supporters looked for a
Russian linesman to flag a goal.
‘Lippo’ was not to be denied for long, however. On 72 minutes substitute Jade Formaston beat
two defenders to whip in a low cross from the bye-line that the inrushing Lipman turned into the roof
of the net at full stretch
Kerry Williamson was called upon to make an excellent double stop from the impressive Ronald as
Loughborough sought a late consolation, but 4 minutes from time Mel Byrne capped a hard working
performance by beating her marker and finishing with a powerful shot past Bruton from 15 yards.
The Ladies top the table on goal difference from Leicester City Women, their next opponents at
Westwood Heath this Sunday the 16th.
Kick off is at 14:00 and admission is free to all Sky Blue supporters.

Coventry City Ladies got their season off to a perfect start with an eight-nil thrashing of
Hereford Pegasus.
Stuart Wilson's side who were Midland Women's Combination runners-up last season, attacked from
the first whistle and bombarded the visitors making their debut at this level.
City were ahead after sixteen minutes when Jodie White hit the post. Mel Mayo's clearance found
Katy Moran who banged the ball into the bottom corner.
Emma Lipman added a second from an acute angle eleven minutes later which was followed by Jade
Formaston reacting to a quick free kick and rounding the keeper to score in the 34th minute.
The Sky Blues, fielding eight players who have come through the club's ranks, highlighted their
superiority in the second half with full frontal assault of the Pegasus goal.
Shots rained in but it was not until the hour mark that Jodie White's header from a Brace cross
crept past the keeper for the fourth goal.
With twenty minutes left and the visiting keeper Jenny Shael and the woodwork taking a
pounding,Wilson replaced his front two with Helen Dermody and Kerry Ann Willis who netted a fifth in
the 74th minute with a low drive.
Enter Helen Dermody who hit a hat-trick in the last sixteen minutes.
She was first to a rebound after a 76th minute Brace shot was parried and did the same again in
the 85th minute from a Hansen rebound.
Deep in stoppage time, Dermody completed her hat-trick by banging home from close range following
more good work from Natalie Brace.
The win left Stuart Wilson happy with his team's performance and looking forward to the next game
at Loughborough next Sunday.
